ticket, it would be a good idea to check those numbers. >> and call me right now. please. we have a lot to talk about. >> thank you very much. appreciate it. two minutes after the hour. the other big story of the morning is rain, rain and more rain. heavy thunderstorms hitting already saturated areas in the midwest. there is no relief in sight. flood warnings posted in a dozen states. parts of missouri bearing the brunt of it. waynesville, it seems everything is under water. i guess there are roads under that. swamped cars and homes. a young boy died when he was washed away in a car. >> the southeast is getting pummeled by the storms. seven inches of rain falling in parts of georgia. flooding washed out a bridge in gilmore county. it's one of the hardest hit areas. a tornado in ohio. the twister ripped the roof off this home in akron. it brought down trees snapping

them in two. >> you can see the family standing outside, thankfully. powerful storms ripped through wisconsin. one person near green bay was killed trying to clear away debris. the governor plans to tour the areas today. indra, any relief in sight? >> this is the problem when you talk about a slow moving cold front. the thunderstorms are in the same area over and over again. we keep talking from oklahoma, kansas and missouri, look at the current radar this morning. once again, the thunderstorms in the region, on top of that, we are talking the threat of severe weather. pretty much bulls eyeing in the same region. the texas panhandle, a big bulk of oklahoma. the difference between today's forecast and yesterday, we were looking for the weather in missouri. that's the relief i can give you knowing you are not going to have the severe thunderstorms. more rain in the forecast today. all the way through saturday

night, this is the troublemaker. here is the cold front. slowly and i mean slowly making its way across. with that, all the moisture pooling up out of the gulf brings heavy showers in the northeast. watch the timing of this. how fast it goes and whether it stalls out. it will impact the rain we are seeing the next several days into the northeast. here is what we know about the southeast. forecasting heavy rain. two to three inches. atlanta, one to two inches. now the northeast, we are going to see, it depends on where the heavier thunderstorms are. there are place that is won't see much. if you get the heavy downpour, you have a threat for flooding. >> thanks for the warning, we appreciate it. a wildfire is raging out of control across southern california. the fast moving silver fire in riverside county burned 6,000 acres, destroyed nearly a dozen

homes and a lot of buildings there since wednesday afternoon. mandatory evacuations ordered in several communities there. hundreds of firefighters are battling the blaze. right now, 0% containment. the man suspected of murdering a friend and kidnapping her children. authorities are looking for james dimaggio. hees been on the run since sunday. the remains of a woman and child were found inside. the woman's two children, 16-year-old hannah anderson and her 8-year-old brother are still missing this morning. not clear if the child's body found is ethans. hannah recently said she didn't want to ceda monlg owe anymore. >> i know she said she was creeped out when jim told her he had a crush on her. hannah told my girl that is creeped her out a little.

>> the sheriff in san diego tells cnn they are not jumping to conclusions. they want to find dimaggio and bring hannah home. the ft. hood shooter is on hold after lawyers working with him told the judge they want off the case. hassan is representing himself. the team appointed to help him says he wants the death penalty. they cannot assist him with that goal. the judge will hold a hearing with hassan and the lawyers. a drone strike killed six al qaeda militants. this is the sixth in two weeks. that, as officials say they stopped an al qaeda plot aimed at gas. officials tell cnn it does not appear this was connected to the threat that led to a travel warning. 19 diplomatic posts remain closed this morning after an al qaeda threat was intercepted,

leaving intelligence officials on edge. consulates are expected to remain shut through saturday as the state department exercises an abundance of caution. >> connected to this, cargo coming into this country on planes from europe, the middle east and africa is being screened twice. a trade group tells cnn they told airlines to look over every piece of cargo multiple times to nothing is left unscreened. this is over an al qaeda strike. there are big problems at the crippled fukushima plant in japan. they are admitting 300 tons of highly radioactive power are pouring into the ocean each and every day. japan's prime minister is ordering them to help with the clean up and containment operations. one plan being considered,

freezing the ground surrounding the facility to stop the leaks. that's never been tried before. in brazil, three people dead after a bus plunged off a bridge. dozens more said to be injured. the bus was full of commuters heading home from work. a texas man who says he was repeatedly tasered at work is suing his former employer and two employees for assault and battery. the stun gun attacks were often video taped and posted on youtube. he says in the last nine months he worked at a houston car dealership, he was assaulted at least two dozen times. >> i was constantly looking behind my shoulder, distracted, couldn't sleep. i would look behind my shower curtain at home. i was trying to buy a home and i

uncomfortable and been critical of what it sees as a rollback of democracy and human rights here. a crackdown on the political opposition. itis been unhappy with a lot of anti-u.s. rhetoric in russian discourse. russia doesn't like being spoken to that way. sees it as meddling. that brings us to this significant point where you have the u.s. administration saying in a not too subtle way, we see no point in the leaders getting together. there's no point in talking. we don't think anything of significance can go achieved. >> you look at the calendar, you have a summit coming up. later, you have the winter olympics happening in russia. it could affect the u.s. participation in these games? >> reporter: i don't think it's likely you will see a boycott. nothing at that level. in terms of an area of continued

cooperation, these two countries will still work together on counterterrori counterterrorism. it's a big area surrounding the games. you have heard of the risk of the anti-gay propaganda which makes it illegal to promote homosexual relationships. the united states doesn't like this law, certainly doesn't want it to apply to visitors there. that is potentially a point of further tension. as the games approach and continued outrage, as it's become likely gay athletes and activists are going to test that law during the course of the games. >> it is sure to be an issue. phil black in moscow, thank you so much. appreciate it. it is 16 minutes past the hour. we are hearing from the father of a man accused of killing three people at a government meeting in pennsylvania. peter says his son was distraught over the officials condemning and buying his

property after a long running dispute over the condition. he says his son talked weeks earlier about quote, taking care of the matter. >> my shoulder there. >> the sheriff's department of the threats. the sheriff says they were never told he might be looking to target officials. in the michael jackson death trial, aeg live, they told the jury contracts for dr. conrad murray's services were never given to jackson's management team. the contract says murray was to do what was requested by the producer, not jackson. the family is saying they are liable for his death.

>> still no verdict in the racketeering trial of james whitey bulger. the jury got the case tuesday. it's been deliberating ever since. wednesday, the panel asked the judge that it must reach a unanimous verdict on all allegations. the judge said yes. the mob boss faces a life sentence if convicted. no connection between april's deadly fertilizer explosion and a paramedic that responded. he was arrested and charged with having bomb making materials. prosecutors say there does not appear to be a leak between reid and what happened in west texas. 50 people died when the plant explo exploded. the exact cause has not been determined. >> here is a weird story. it's shark week. we get it. we can report a shark sighting in the unlikeliest of places.

the flooding, a 4-year-old boy in a car when it was washed away. in alabama, heavy rain left towns under water. upwards of three inches fell in an hour. flooded streets overwhelming the storm drains. lightning caused a house fire. luckily, no injuries reported. in ohio, a tornado tore a roof off a home near akron. no one was home at the time except the family pets. the pets were rescued there. little damage to the houses nearby. some trees there, not seen here, did get snapped in two. indra petersons is here with a sense of what's going to happen today. it's not getting better. >> we are watching the stalled cold front. it's about where it's going to be. the area hit the hardest with heavy rain day after day, keep showing what the radar looks like in oklahoma, kansas and missouri. it's a similar picture today.

only difference, not as heavy rainfall. either way, inundated with thunderstorm after thunderstorm. obviously, we are still talking about the flooding concerns in the region. the only good news is the severe weather threat not stretching into missouri like we expected it to in yesterday's forecast. not looking for severe weather, but rain in the forecast. panhandle texas and oklahoma looking for the threat of the severe thunderstorms. large hail and strong winds. here is the cold front. notice the red and blue. it's stalled on the bottom. this moisture is coming from the gulf. the question mark is the top half of the cold front. how fast is it going to go? is it going to stall out? it depends on whether or not it stalls for how much rain we are expecting over the next several days as far as the southeast is concerned. we are looking at two to three inches in nashville. atlanta, one to two.

two to three inches for springfield. the northeast, we get the heavier thunderstorms, we see heavier rainfall announcing the threat for flooding, otherwise, scattered showers in some regions. a mixed bag. definitely rain. >> thank you. >> thanks, indra. 35 minutes past the hour. breaking news from dallas. four people dead and several others injured in a shooting spree. the shooter went to a home in dallas with our affiliate wfaa says he was looking for his former girlfriend. four people shot two died. we went to a home, threw an explosive and two more died there. he has been arrested. some of the victims are said to be children. authorities in california and other states are asking, where is james dimaggio. he's suspected of murdering a friend and kidnapping her daughter after his home in san

diego burned to the ground. the remains of a woman and child were found inside. it's unclear if the child's body was that of the woman's 8-year-old son. but, her 16-year-old daughter hannah is still missing. family friends said hannah had been troubled by his admission he had a crush on her. there's a lot of speculation right now. we don't want to go too far out on a limb one direction or the other. we know they were lifelong friends. we are not exactly sure what that relationship was. we don't know if hannah is with him willingly or not. we just don't know right now. >> authorities are following up on a number of sightings but have not located dimaggio ar hannah. this morning, the court-martial who killed people is on hold. stopped by the judge trying to sort out the legal twist.

ed has more. >> reporter: defense attorneys appointed to assist hassan says he seems to be on a suicide mission after declaring i am the shooter in his opening statement. his stand by attorneys said hassan is working in concert with the prosecution to achieve a death sentence. he started to object. after hearing that, the judge brought the court-martial to a standstill. military experts say they have never seen anything like this. >> there's no tell whag he's going to do when he gets on the stand. if he testifies, which i suspect he will. >> reporter: from the start of the trial, hassan has shown no interest in helping himself. he killed 13 people and wounded more than 30 others in an attack at ft. hood. hassan asked a few questions of witnesses. he's a quiet bystander acting as his own lawyer.

the attorneys assigned to help can't let it happen. >> they are in a terrible predickment. they have to stand by and watch the person they are charged with assisting to represent himself, essentially put the noose around his own neck. they view this as fundamentally inconsistent as lawyers. >> reporter: this is where he would end up. there hasn't been a military execution since 1961. the legal road to the death chamber is full of detours created by appeals and needs presidential approval. based on recent past cases, if he gets the death penalty, he may never be executed. military law expert jeffrey corn says the legal drama we saw unfold will not derail his murder trial. >> i suspect she's going to make

major hassan acknowledge on the record, in this hearing that he understands the immense risk he's assuming. >> reporter: the question is what will happen next. what will the judge tell the three stand by attorneys. many legal experts, military legal experts said what they anticipate the judge will do is tell the three attorneys they have to continue on with their duty in assisting major hassan as stand by counsel. they are not sure at this point. the judge ordered everyone to reconvene thursday morning. perhaps we will find out what happens then. more questions about the deaths of two young boys in canada asphyxiated by a python in their home. the community remembered noah and connor barth as pictures showed them playing in glass
